Smarter SEO is a sister company to The Web Project Ltd, which was founded as a SEO consultancy in 2005 by Nick Maynard and Mike Stepney. Nick and Mike began working together in the area of search engine optimization in 2002; Nick having previously worked as a freelance journalist (both online and in print) and Mike having graduated at the top of his university in computer programming.
